Las Dalias is situated in the hippy-friendly resort
of San Carlos in the North East of Ibiza. The venue itself has a rich
history of live music dating back to the sixties and has hosted dad-rock
greats such as Brian May and Jimmie Page as well as Sham 69 and UB40. Now,
it is one of Ibiza’s less publicised clubs but just happens to host one
of the islands most amazing club nights, Tribe of Frog’s Eartheart.
While
club promoters like the Manumission crew are motivated by notoriety and
the Benjamin’s, The Tribe of Frog are in it to create an ultimate
clubbing experience in an environment as unique as the concept.
Promoters
Donna & Chris and the rest of The Frogs spend nearly two days preparing the club for
their weekly party and spend hours of hard labour transforming the usually
rather drab décor of Las Dalias into a UV heaven. Every wall, ceiling and
person is delicately draped with ultra violet masterpieces – dayglow
spaceships, crazy green gremlins – everything goes in this heavenly
hippy haven. Inside
the club it feels as if you could be in a crazy old church with the DJ
taking residence on the alter. The music is supplied by guest DJ’s from
Spain and England including Ripsnorters DJ Pod and is pure bouncy tribal
trance that enthuses the whacked out locals, workers, caners and even the
odd to
urist.
Quite often a little green space mutant not unlike Gilbert The Alien raves
away on the upper level freaking out the punters while up on the stage
glowing dancers throw crazy space balls into the crowd with the resultant
effect of a very surreal but serene asteroid attack.
If
this all sounds a bit too much for you, then it is clearly time to retreat
to the ultra violet garden where you can grab a bottle of Maou and chill
out to some ambient grooves while beautiful people hand out iced fruit to
the gathered gaggle of gurners.
The
Tribe of Frog garden is where many visitors spend their entire evening, as
it is in itself absolutely stunning. Cushions are scattered on the ground
where you can crash out and look up to the glowing canopies or just stare
into the beautifully lit trees that peer into the garden.
If you are in a fit state to move, you can visit one of the stalls
that are often scattered around the garden and get yourself a chocolate crepe, or
if you fancy really getting into the spirit of things, you could try
visiting one of the UV artists who will adorn your body in neon flowers or
give you glow in the dark whiskers if you ask nicely.
Whether
you visit Las Dalias for the banging beats or the tranquil garden of
earthly delights, I am sure it will be a night you will never forget.
Unless you get really wasted…
