Formed
in the Autumn of 2005 by lead vocalist Darcy Harrison and guitarist Graham
Ward, the band moved through several incarnations in its early stages
until drummer Sam Bacon, bassist/vocalist Hattie Williams and guitarist
Darren LeWarne found their places within the band. These five friends,
having all drifted into Brighton from various places across the country,
have found a common ground in the escape from their small town
upbringings. Telegraphs draw influences from the likes of Idlewild,
Radiohead, Constantines, Hope Of The States and Jeff Buckley.
Here
at earwax radio we love the Telegraphs, we played their first demo days
after it was recorded and booked them for their first London gig at the
Dirty South Bank Show. Their
download single This Is A Message was released in November 07 and picked
up airplay on both Radio 1 and XFM with Kerrang calling it “a quality
work of angular rock goodness.”
As
part of the Artful festival the Telegraphs recorded an exclusive acoustic
session for us at the Deptford Arms.
