Liberty Jones’ the brand new single from south London-based four piece The Shakes is set to confirm their position as the most exciting new band in the UK when it is released on 9 October 2006 through Tough Cookie. With ‘Liberty Jones’, The Shakes will charm your socks off with their catchy choruses, story telling lyrics and damn fine indie pop quirkiness all cherry topped with the swagger of Jagger and a twinkle in their eyes!

‘Liberty Jones’ is the follow up from their debut single Goodbye New York’, seven hundred limited editions sold out in a week and stayed in the HMV online Top 20 bestsellers for 2 weeks. The b-side to ‘Liberty Jones’ comes in the form of ‘So Serious’ a quirky slice of electro pop, which showcases The Shakes’ uniqueness and proves that they’re not just a one trick pony. ‘So Serious’ shows The Shakes’ ability to conjure up a summer vibe in ones mind while listening to the track - it will leave you feeling the urge to go sit in the sunshine, feet in the paddling pool and a large margarita in your hand.

Live is where The Shakes have earned their dedicated following.  You can hear The Shakes fans a mile off; they know every word to every song, they sing at the top of their lungs and are up dancing like no-ones watching from the very first note.  To say you’ll be throwing a few more moves than a toe tap by the end of a gig is an understatement.

If anything can tell you what The Shakes are all about ‘Liberty Jones’ says it all; short and sweet indie pop songs with lyrics to get you daydreaming, mixed with sounds old and new that will get you humming and feet tapping at your desk all day.

The Shakes have also just launched the first in a new series of downloadable ‘radio’ shows in the form of ‘Shakecasts’, their unique take on the current podcast phenomenon. The ‘Shakecast’ includes live tracks, exclusive competitions, and brand new, never before heard tracks.  In the last month alone the ‘Shakecast’ has racked up over 2000 subscribers, coming from as far a field as Romania, Turkey, Germany, Japan and the US, and is growing at a rate of 40 per day. With over 18,000 plays on the bands Myspace page The Shakes look set to become another online phenomenon to hit the music scene.
